Raised in east-central Ohio, Robert Loewendick explored the forested hills and adjacent river bottom surrounding his family home. At eight years old, with a canvas backpack bought from an Army-Navy surplus store, Robert’s natural desire for adventure began to blossom. Three decades later and hundreds of excursions, both near and far, sharing stories of his adventures with word and photos became a sport of its own. Robert’s first article was traded to an outdoors themed website for a package of chili mix. More trips, more articles, more photos, and a list of publications that Robert’s byline appeared in, grew. He wrote outdoors columns for local and regional newspapers, until national publications consumed his writing hours and days. Joining the organizations, Outdoor Writers of Ohio (served as president 2013 - 2015) and Outdoor Writers Association of America, provided opportunities for Robert to meet the top writers and publishers in the business. That networking led to writing articles for major media outlets such as ESPN Outdoors, and a three-year run as the camping/hiking blogger for Bass Pro Shops. Enjoying competition, Robert entered several essay contests sponsored by industry leaders such as Winnebago. Robert scored two consecutive wins in the Winnebago contests, resulting in two journeys in new RVs gathering article materials along the way with his cherished wife and two children along for the rides. Back in Ohio, Robert was offered assignments by Menasha Ridge Press to author two guidebooks, camping and hiking the Buckeye State. Robert’s freelancing now includes video content creation for his brand, Adventures Found. His social media accounts are busy with updates of current projects and pursuits as he continues to explore for more stories to share, to entertain, and inform.
